Weekend

Well it's Saturday morning and I haven't done much of anything. Last night I worked on my case brief for my business law class instead of going to my fraternity's party. I know sounds like I am such a great student. Well I still haven't done much of the other homework that I have but oh well I got all day Sunday for that. Upcoming this next week is the President's State of the Union address. I will be watching to see what crap Bush has to say. To those that know me, know I can't stand our president, and can't wait to 2009 when he is officially out of office. I am sure he will probably talk about the economy and how much it has "improved" and some other things he has on his agenda for 2006. I am sure I won't be too impressed, but maybe I will get a good laugh out of it.

So the two Democratic Senators from Massachusetts is trying to hold a filibuster for Supreme Court nominee Judge Sam Alito. I am surprised that they are waiting til now to do so, but if it makes them happy then go for it. We all know he will shift the court to the right and it could lead to our country being set back. I know Senators Kerry and Kennedy will be unsuccessful in their attempt to filibuster Judge Alito but the Democratics need to start takin a stand against the Republican majority. Only time will tell if the Democrats have enough balls to start standing up to them.

Well I gotta go to work in a couple of hours and then tonight we will be doing a fundraiser for the Caucus. Until next time this is America's Nightmare...

Brokeback Mountain

So last night, a classmate and myself went to see Brokeback Mountain. I was wondering if this film was going to live up to all the hype that it has created. I have to say it is a good movie, but I definitely don't think it's one of the best movies I have seen. The story is very interesting. I don't want to give it away just incase you haven't seen it. I haven't seen any of the other films that have been winning awards. I asked my friend if she thought this film was better than the movie Crash, which I have yet to see. She said not a chance, but that this film is a totally different kind of film.

It makes me wonder if this movie had African-American actors if it would have received so much praise. I doubt it, but we all know how America works.

Well it's been a busy week. I have picked up an extra shift at work today so instead of working on homework all day I have to go to work. It's okay cause I need the money, since my trip to NC is in 6 days!!!!!!!! Yes I am excited to see my old friends at my undergraduate school. I have been wanting to get down there for awhile.

This weekend is going to be very boring, filled with homework and work so until next time this is America's Nightmare...

VH1 and Reality Shows

Ok people you guys may think I am crazy for saying this but two of the best reality shows on TV right now have to be Celebrity Fit Club 3 and Flava of Love. I literally can't wait to see what happens on these shows each week.

First let's talk about Celebrity Fit Club 3. Now for those who haven't seen or heard of the show it's where they get 8 celebrities and put them on 2 teams of 4 and they see which team can lose the most weight in 100 days. Some of the celebrities are people who havent' done much, but this season they actually have some pretty interesting people. Tempestt Bledsoe aka Vanessa from The Cosby Show, Countess Vaughn aka Kim Parker from Moesha and The Parkers, Young MC, and Bizaree from D12. That's just a few of the celebrities, well the ones that I real watch the show for. It's good to watch the celebrities from week to week try and reach their target weight goals. I am enjoying watching these people work to lose weight. Especially since I am currently in the gym at least 3 times a week trying to get myself back in to shape. I am actually surprised that Countess Vaughn is on this show. She is a really petit girl. She is only 4' 11" and only weighs 130 lbs. She doesn't look that big on tv and I think she definitely isn't as big as she was when she was first on Moesha. I think she looks good how she is. Well the best of luck to all of them because I will be watching every week until the end.

Now Flava of Love...Oh my gosh. I can't believe there is a reality show where women are trying to compete for the love of Flava Flav. Now don't get me wrong, beauty isn't just in physical appearance but DAMN!!!! Would these girls actually consider Flava if he was just a regular guy? HELL TO DA NAWWWWWWWWWW! Now some of these girls don't actually look half bad. Now Hoopez looks damn good to me. My favorite has to be New York. I just think she brings the drama and keeps it real with the other girls. She has definitely kept this show entertaining. Well the show this week had the girls meeting Flava's mother and they had to cook some fried chicken for him and her. Well Hotness decides to fry her chicken in the microwave! Yes that's not a typo, in the microwave. Obviously this child doesn't have all her marbles. I was in my room laughing my behind off at this. Some of these chicks will do anything to get with this man. If you havne't seen this show I have to recommend you checking it out at least once.

Well i bought my plane ticket last night for NC. It's official I will be there in 11 days!!! I can't wait to see old friends and just have a good time. Well now it's off to do some homework. Until next time this is America's Nightmare...

I'm Back

Ok so I know it's been a few days! I had a computer crisis. On Saturday night I turned off my computer and then on Sunday when I turned it back on, I was unable to sign on to the internet. I thought something major was wrong with my computer. Come to find out it was only the Norton Internet Security and the ResNet connection at OSU don't mix well so it was blocking me from accessing the internet. It's all good now cause I am back!

Well classes are kicking into gear. I am glad the work load hasn't been as hectic as last quarter. At this time I had already written a paper for about every class and more than likely was working on my second or third one for the class. I definitely don't miss that. I think my favorite class this quarter has to be my business law class. The professor is pretty entertaining and he keeps the class interesting. The only downside is the fact that we have to have a quiz each class meeting, but it helps me remember a lot of the stuff we have talked about.

So American Idol has begun again. I definitely enjoy the audition process. The last couple of seasons that's the only part I have watched of the show until about the last two weeks of the show. Simon, Randy and Paula have all gotten a lot meanier and I am enjoying it. Of course Simon was very over the top with his comments, but you gotta love him for being brutally honest! So far though I have yet to see anyone spectaular. All the singers have pretty much been mediocre. I wish we could see someone like Frenchie(remember her from season 2 auditions) come in and just blow the judges away so much that you know she could win hands down.(I know she didn't get the chance to go through the whole competition) A friend and myself were talking about Frenchie and how we don't think there has ever been another person who has been so good in their audition that you know hands down they will win. I am positive I will quit watching American Idol once the audtions are over, so until then I will be glued to the TV every Tuesday and Wednesday watching Americans make a fool of themselves!

I got an email a couple weeks ago spotlighting the Top 10 Artists to look out for in 2006. Here they are and some of my own comments

10. Letoya Luckett...yes this is the Letoya from the original Destiny's Child. I think she has the potential to be big. I am sure most will compare her to Beyonce, but Beyonce ain't got nothing on her looks. Letoya was definitley the best looking member of the original Destiny's Child. I really hope she has some success in '06.
9. Little Brother...dont' know anything about them so moving on
8. Ne-Yo...I hear this guy is pretty good, but I don't think I have heard any of his music. Well good luck to him in '06.
7. Jennifer Hudson...yes this is the Jennifer Hudson from American Idol season 3. She definitley can blow, and plus she will be in the Dreamgirls movie next year. It's nice to see another African-American contestant from American Idol(besides the winners of 2 and 3) doing something.
6. Shanice...yes this is the Shanice that hasn't released a hit in a long time. I really like her song "When I Close My Eyes" That is definitely a classic song and she is a talented singer so I can't wait to see what she is going to be releasing.
5. Whitney Houston...yes the lady who is infamous for coining the phrase "Hell to da NAW!" is supposed to be releasing a new album. I just don't know if she has gotten herself together, but if she has then more power to her.
4. Mary J. Blige...I really love her "Be Without You" song. If her next single is any good then I will purchase her CD. I have actually heard mixed reviews regarding her CD. Mary is definitely the queen of Hip Hop and R&B.
3. The Fugees...I can't wait for them. I remember this group when I was so young. This is a much anticipated reunion of one of the best Hip Hop groups ever.
2. Kelly Rowland...Yes my girl. She is my favorite member of Destiny's Child. I hope and pray that she just sticks to the Hip Hop and R&B this album. I am looking forward to her upcoming album.
1. Janet Jackson...She has an album coming out. She has already done enough. In my opinion she doesn't have much to prove.

Well good luck to all those artists in '06, until next time it's America's Nightmare...

USA Today and Mrs. Alito

So today, like everyday, I go downstairs and pick up the USA Today. Much to my surprise on the front page was a picture of Judge Alito's wife crying! I was shocked and couldn't believe that she made the front page and that she was crying. I go on to read the article and they say that she was upset by the questioning her husband was receiving from Democratic Senators. It said that at one point during the confirmation hearing she had to leave the room, but later returned. Well should us americans feel sorry for her? Hell to da Naw! This was her husband's confirmation hearing. She didn't expect the questioning to be a walk in the park. If she couldn't handle the questioning then maybe she should have just stayed home. Her husband is being "interviewed" for a job as a US Supreme Court Justice that holds a lifetime appointment. Of course there are going to be tough questioning. Life most candidates for the supreme court, Judge Alito didn't say how he would rule if abortion was on the table, due to the recognition that it could possibly be a future case. But we all know how he would rule. He would want to overturn it. Democratic Senators grilled Judge Alito pretty well, but I doubt they will actual perform a filabuster to block his nomination. I am sure most, if not all democratic senators, don't want him to be a justice but will once again just sit back and let another Bush nominee slide through. I wish our Democratic Senators would stand up to the Republican majority and to just go along with the flow. Hopefully in the midterm elections later on this year America will get it right and turn both the House and Senate back to Democratic majority!

It's been a very busy week. I have been trying to work extra hours to make up for the weekend that I will be off when I go back to visit my undergrad school. I have a four day weekend and will be doing homework, working and just relaxing and enjoying life. Until next time this is America's Nightmare...

Happy Founder's Day!!!!!!

On this day 95 years ago, January 5th, 1911, on the kampus of Indiana University, Bloomington, IN history was made by 10 young men. They founded the great bond then known as Kappa Alpha Nu. It’s name was formally changed on April 15, 1915 to Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. On this day as we celebrate 95 years of achieving take a special moment to pay your respects to our illustrious founders, Elder Watson Diggs “The Dreamer”, Byron Kenneth Armstrong, Ezra D. Alexander, Henry T. Asher, Marcus Peter Blakemore, Paul W. Caine, George Wesley Edmonds, Edward Giles Irvin, Guy Levis Grant, and John Milton Lee for kreating such a strong bond. 1st day of Class

So today marked the first day of classes for winter quarter. I wasn't quite ready to start the new quarter off. I hadn't bought books or even printed out any info for class. I could have used a couple more days. I had 2 of my 4 classes today, and unlike last quarter, I actually think I am going to like these two classes. Last quarter, I couldn't stand the classes that I was in. It felt like a lot of the time was wasted talking about nothing that was going to be relevent to my future career as a tax accountant. I had a tax and a foundations of accounting classes today. Both professors were full of energy and seemed as if they would be quite entertaining this quarter. Hopefully they can keep me focused and enjoying their classes all quarter.

Tomorrow I have my other two classes. They are a business law and fraud examination class. They both seem as if they will be very entertaining. I am hoping these classes go well tomorrow. I guess only time will tell.

In 5 months I will be done with my Master's degree. It's kinda weird thinking of having a Master's degree. It just doesn't seem like I should have one at my age. I will only be 23 years old when I receive it. I will really feel accomplished once I get it. Neither my mother or father went to college so I never thought I would go this far. One thing for sure is that I am proud of myself and have worked very hard to get to where I am today. I am going to continue working hard to make it to June 11, 2006.(That graduation for those who don't know) Lord knows I am ready to be done with school.

Until next time this is America's Nightmare...

Happy New Year!

Greetings and Happy New Year to all. One of my new year's resoultions was to create a blog and keep it updated regularly. I have been checking peoples blogs out for a couple of months and have really liked what I have seen. So here I hope you all enjoy my blog and feel free to leave comments at anytime.

I will be posting on different topics such as religion, politics, fraternity, family, and friends just to name a few. I hope to update at least twice a week. That's my goal but we will see what will happen with that.

Just to give those some background information on myself. I am a 22 year old, graduate student at The Ohio State University and living in Columbus, Ohio. I will post more about myself in later topics, but that all you all need to know for now.

Here are my New Year's Resoultions for 2006
1. Create a Blog and update it at least twice a week.
2. Continute working out since we have to pay a rec fee I might as well use it.
3. Find a nice affordable apartment in Columbus.
4. Continue enjoying and exploring Columbus.

That's all for now, but I may add a couple more in the coming days.

For those who have noticed, the name of my blog is America's Nightmare-Young, Black, and Educated! I think the title speaks for itself but if anyone needs clarification as to why just let me know.

Until next time this is America's Nightmare...
