Politics and Current Events

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/02/27/opinion/polls/main1350874.shtml

According to this new CBS poll, President Bush has hit a new all time low approval rating of 34%! Is this surprising? Not to me, but who really cares about the poll numbers anymore?!?! We have to deal with Bush for the next two years so telling us that his poll numbers are low doesn't really matter. I am not a big fan of the polls at anytime. I would rather do without them, but we all know it's something we will continue to hear until Bush is out of office.

Many of you know that Bush isn't my favorite person in the world, but I have come to accept him as our leader. I am sure Bush won't be the only president in my lifetime that I won't agree with. I just hope there aren't many that I have to live through!

Is anyone else excited that March Madness will be here soon! I really don't watch much college basketball but I do enjoy watching the tournament! I am rooting for Duke and Ohio State. As long as one of those two come out as National Champions I will be happy! Any other team is unacceptable! Go Blue Devils and GO BUCKS!

I have to admit. I am one of the few Americans who have decided to boycott American Idol until later on in the show maybe when they have about 5 or 6 contestants left. Why you ask? Because I really didn't think I saw anyone during the auditions that I could say was the next American Idol. Actually the only good singer that I do remember from the auditions is that girl who's grandma is Ann Nesby. I believe she is in the top 24! She was okay. I was hoping to find someone like Frenchie! Who you knew that she was going to win the comptetition before it even started.( I know Frenchie was kicked off and Rueben went on to win that season, but you all have to admit that she would have whopped Rueben hands down if she was able to compete in that season!) I just am over the entire American Idol bandwagon. But I guess I am one of the few cause the ratings for the show have been phenominal.

Okay I know I didn't mention this show in my last post cause I had yet to see the finale but did anyone catch Celebrity Fit Club 3???? Poor Countess Vaughan became the first contestant on that show to have a net weight gain after the 100 days. I felt bad for her. Hopefully they will get her to coe back next season. Overrall this was a good season. It has truly been a show that I can actually relate to since I am currently in the gym 4 times a week trying to get fit. I guess you can say I am goin through my own personal Fit Club!

One of my favorite shows returns to TV tonight. Amazing Race 9! I am rooting for Ray and Yoldanda (only because Ray in my frat brother) I am sure I will have other favorite teams in the coming weeks. I love this show and I am going to enjoy watching every minute of it.

alright that's enough for tonight, I'm America's Nightmare...

My life this past week!

Dang this past week has just flown by. Every night this week I kept saying I was going to update but just never really made it a priority. I am finally doing so now so be glad :)

Man I just finished watching this weeks episode of Flava of Love and all I have to say is I am going to miss watching this show! If you haven't watched this show then you have missed a quite entertaining show. On today's episode, Pumkin was eliminated, but before leaving her and New York got into a pretty bad argument which ended with Pumkin spitting on New York! Yes you read that right. Pumkin SPIT on New York. Now to me that is one of the worst possible things a human being could do to another person. New York you should have beat that B*#ches A$$!

Moving on I have actually had a pretty good weekend. I decided not to go out on Saturday cause I needed to catch up on some reading cause I have a 10 page book report due on this book in less than two weeks. Yes I have a book report in grad school! Unbelieveable but it's whatever.

On Friday, I worked and then went to the Caucus movie series for Black History month. The movie being viewed was Rosewood. I have to say that man this is a good movie. I had never seen it before. We got about half way through the movie before the DVD player started acting crazy so we didn't get to finish it. Next week we will though and I am quite excited about that. So many things was going through my mind while watching the movie. Imagine living in the early 1900s. It just hurts knowing that African Americans were treated this way. The tragic part is that some still we should be treated this way. I will comment more on the movie next week after I get to see the rest. I would recommend it to those who haven't seen it.

After the movie, my friend, Rhea and myself went to Steak N Shake and then to the movies to see Madea's Family Reunion. Okay now I am not really a big fan of Madea. I just never got into the big crazy that has swept through the African American community in regards to Tyler Perry. Not saying anything bad against him I just never really into the plays. Since I had seen so many previews for Madea's Family Reunion I decided I wanted to see it. Well the movie was ok. yes just ok! I won't go into details about the movie, but I will say that please in your next film find actresses that can cry (with tears) when casting. The one actress, I'm not even sure her name, couldn't seem to shed one tear while "crying". That just really bugged me. I did enjoy Lynn Whitfield in the movie. That girl is such a great actress. She made you really hate her in this movie. Good job on her part. Also, I can't forget my girl Jenifer Lewis. I just love her. Even though her part was very small I enjoy watching her in anything that she is in. She is totally the bomb dot com! It was great going to the movies with Rhea. I really do enjoy the time hangin out with her. She is truly cool peeps!

On Thursday, Millie, Rhea, Kim and me made dinner at Millie's. We had chicken and fries. Donuts for dessert. A little wine to go with the feast also. It was great though. I really enjoyed kickin it with them. I think we kept each other quite entertained on Thursday. I think we might make this a weekly event. And Siddy if you are reading this we will invite you to the next one!

Well not really much has been going on with school. We only have two weeks of classes left for the quarter. Is it me or did this quarter just fly by? I can't believe it will be the month of March in less than three days. I am ready for spring break though. I need a week (well two weeks for myself) to rest and relax and do nothing. This week I will finish up my tax class a week early! yes that makes me happy! I have two in class finals. One will be held on the last day of class and the other the following Monday. So not much longer and I will be beginning my final quarter at The Ohio State University.

My workouts have been going well. I am very happy with my progress. I have decided to begin lifting weights at the start of next quarter. It's been a while since I have done weights. I did it for a little bit my freshman year of college but not real serious since my senior year in high school for football. So yes I will be trying to get buff for the summer. LOL! One thing that does suck about losing weight is the fact that all your clothes now look like they are extremely too big. I don't really like my clothes looking like they are three sizes to big. It's worth it though. Maybe this summer when I start makin the big bucks I will be able to afford a new wardrobe. Okay well enough about the weight loss journey.

My weekend and other things

Well I have had a good weekend. Last night I went to a wine tasting social gathering. It was really nice. Those of you who know me know I have never had wine before. I went to CVS and picked up a cheap bottle of Arbor Mist and off I was to the wine tasting. I sampled so many different kinds that I don' t know which is my favorite. I do know that I think I am going to become a wine drinker cause I was lovin just about everything I was sippin on. (They are really turning me into a drinker here at OSU!) I really enjoyed myself last night. I really needed a night to go out and just relax and enjoy myself considering I had only planned on doing homework all weekend. We, also, played some spades last night which is my favorite card game in the world. I have to say that I still haven't lost my touch. I whooped up everyone that got on my table last night. I have to say that they kids here at Ohio State ain't got nothing on this spades playa!

On Friday I didn't really do much except for homework. I had planned on getting stuff done cause I have a lot of work due this upcoming week and I am just trying to get ahead. I actually accomplished a lot that I wanted to. So I was proud of myself. To celebrate my weight loss journey I went to Old Navy and bought myself a pair of jeans. And I have some amazing news. I can fit into a size 38 waist jeans. You guys don't understand how big of a monument that is. I havne't been able to fit a 38 waist probably since my junior or maybe my senior year of high school. This definitely makes me feel like my time in the gym is paying off. I plan on continuing my journey. I hope by this summer I can be down to a 36 or 34 waist cause I am going to go visit my friends in DC and I told Nicole that I will only be wearing a wife beater and will be showing off my sexy body all up and through DC! LOL! It's a joke everyone just laugh and move on.

Well for my Spring Break I am going to High Point to visit my bruhs and to just chill and relax for a week. It should be good times. I enjoyed my last visit there so I should enjoy my next one. Dang it's hard to believe we only have 3 weeks of classes left in this quarter. I can't wait for it to be done though. I am ready to finish out this school year. Anyways I have a lot more work to finish up today and so I am America's Nightmare...

I have a twin sister, for real!

So I was having a conversation with my mom the other day. I was tellin her that most people are surprised when I tell them that i have a twin sister. I couldn't understand why this was. Many people that I went to school with didn't realize that my sister and me were twins. Some people would even say that they didn't know I had a sibling. It surprised me cause we always assumed everyone knew we were twins and that she existed. (especially the people we grew up with and went to school with) When I say school I am referring to elementary, middle and high school. Well my mother went on to say that my sister and myself never went out of our way to let people know that we were twins. She says we never really made much of a big deal about it. It made me think back to when we were growing up. My sister and I never really went around broadcasting that we were twins now that I think about it. I think we just didn't really tend to think much of it. People tend to be really infatuated with twins. You know when people find out they ask you all kinds of questions. Here are just a couple of the ones that I get (Are you two identical? A boy and a girl can't be identical to those who don't know...Can you tell when the other one is in trouble? I have to say that sometimes we do get this feelin when something is up.) Well everyone who reads this I just want to let you know that I have a twin sister. Yes we were born on the same day and if you didn't know this feel free to ask me about her. It's nice havin a twin. I have to admit it was tough when we were at the ages of 11-13. It seemed like we would fight everyday, but it was nice growing up together. The best thing was when we were younger and it would rain (which means you had to play inside) we would still have someone to play with. We always had each other. Well I don't wanna make this to deep so I am America's nightmare...

Weekend Update

Ok so this has been a busy weekend for myself. I help out at an undergradate male retreat. It was very enlightening and i learned a lot being there just helpin out. I called off from work on Saturday night. It's my first call off this quarter and we get three. I figured I deserved it.

I had so much fun on my recent trip to NC that I am already trying to plan the next one. I am thinking maybe sometime in March. I haven't yet found a good date. It really just depends on exams and spring break stuff. Hopefully I can get down there cause there are something I need to see.

So has everyone heard the new song by BubbaSparxxx called Ms. New Booty. I think this is my new favorite song. I really am feelin the beat. I guess the ying yang twins do add a lot to the song. If you haven't heard it I suggest checkin it out.

To those who are thinking about going to grad school here are some words of advice. Make sure you aren't addicted to more than 3 shows on TV cause trying to keep up with my 10 favorite shoes each week take a lot out of me. It's valuable time that I could be using studying/homeworking but I just can never seem to pull myself from the TV.

Did everyone watch Grey's Anatomy after the Super Bowl. I really do love that show. It has to be my favorite show on TV at the moment. Those that do watch know that today will be the conclusion of the great episode that appeared after Super Bowl XL. I have been waiting all week in anticipation of the show. You know I think they are the only cast on tv that looks like America. By looking like America I mean in the diversity of the cast. No other show on tv (maybe ER) has a cast that isn't just all black or white or with a token white or black cast memeber. There is an Asian American, African Americans, Caucasians and they are all great actors and actresses. My favorite has to be Chandra Wilson. That's Bailey (She's incharge of the interns) for those who only know her character name. She is quite fun and provides great lines throughout every episode. Hopefully her husband doesn't die tonight.

Well nothing major goin on this week. On Wednesday the company that I will be working for is taking all the new hires out to dinner. Ain't nothing like a free meal. All you know how I feel about free. If it's free it's for me!

So I am thinking of giving up meat for a couple of months. Yeah I know I am not crazy, but I think it may help in the weight loss journey that I am going through. I am going to try it out for this week and then I will make the decison of whether not I can make it for a couple of months without meat.

Did anyone see the premiere of Kanye West's new video "Touch the Sky". I have to say i like the song and the video is spectacular. I may be overreacting but I do like it. Pam Anderson, Nia Long, and Tracee Ellis Ross are in the video. Yes those are some FINE looking women! Hopefully it gets voted on 106 and Park. I am really startin to fell Kanye.

Well this is America's Nightmare...

State of the Union, Weekend trip to HPU...

Sorry for so long of a break in between posts. I have been on the go. I had planned to do a blog on the State of the Union address. Here are a couple of the notes I took while watching...

You take away Sept. 11 and the Bush presidency doesn’t mean a thing.

I have never understood our country trying to force other countries to have a democracy.

I could do without all those audience applauses during the speech.

No offense to those who have died in service while in the military, but does Bush think that you can’t support our troops without being in support of the Iraq War.

Loved the smirk on Sen. Clinton’s face when Bush was talking about Al-Quaida(sp.) and how they need to renew the Patriot Act.

I wonder why Bush didn’t mention that he has cut Student Financial Aid?!?!

Liked that the Democrats jumped up and when Bush said they didn’t act on his social security changes that he planned.

“America is addicted to oil”- No Comment

Why does Bush always say that “Judges shouldn’t legislate from the bench!”

Those were some of my thoughts while watching the State of the Union. I wish I cared about politics when Clinton was in office cause I would have liked to have seen one of his speeches. Moving on past that, last weekend I made a trip back to my undergrad institution to visit my frat brothers and old friends. It truly was a great weekend. A group of my main friends all met up down there and we just enjoyed each others company and partyed all weekend. So here are a few details of the trip.

Last Thursday my front picked me up from the airport. We drove to HPU and I was given a tour of all the new changes that President Nido is making at HPU. For those who haven't seen the campus well it's a mess. I think it will look great once it's done but there is just way too much going on with that campus. Well I met up with the rest of my frat brothers and we all talked and laughed and went to dinner together. We later on journeyed up to Elon University to an interest meeting our chapter was having on that campus. It was great seeing the rest of the brothers from my chapter. I really do miss hangin out with all of them. Later on that night another friend came in on the train and it was off to the hotel to sleep and get ready for Friday's festivities.

On Friday, we didn't really do much expect for eat and shop and wait on the rest of the crew to make it down. We chilled in the hotel a lot. Drank a little bit and basically just hung out and caught up some more with some other friends.

Now on Saturday was the big dance. We all got ready for that. had a little drama earlier in the day, but I will not go there. The dance was better than ever. I had way too much fun. I bought these My front and me bought these 7 dollar shades and we thought we were doing it big. Couldn't nobody tell us anything! Anyways after the dance we went back to the hotel got our grub on and chit chatted. I had to be up early sunday to get to the airport. I honestly can't wait to return to HPU. It really showed me how much I missed my frat brothers.

On Sunday night, when I returned to Columbus, I went to a Super Bowl party at a friend's house. Super Bowl was okay. Not really a whole bunch of excitement. My friend and her friend cooked some good fried chicken. Damn it reminded me of my mom's. It was so good.

I have been busy with classes and stuff since arriving back. That's why I haven't been updating. Had a couple of midterms, but now all that is over.

Oh yea update on my working out...I have probably lost almost 20 lbs since I began the new work out plan in January. it's going great. I am still motivated and am hoping to loose about 20-30 more. That weekend at HPU really hurt me. I was eating way too much. It's okay cause I am back on track down. I think I worked all that extra stuff off at the gym this week.

Dang this is a very long post. Until next time this is America's Nightmare....
