Thankful...

Yes, I know Thanksgiving has come and past but I still wanted to post a list of some of the things I am thankful for...

1. For having a beautiful family and getting to spend Thanksgiving with them.
2. To reconnecting and visiting with old friends. Even though I didn't get to see everyone it was good to at least hear from them.
3. That OJ Simpson book and special were cancelled. That idiot needs to continue to play golf and stay out of the spotlight!
4. I have never watched Seinfield. Michael Richards has a serious problem if he thinks that having a few conversations with Revs. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson is going to help the cause then he is clueless. I hope his career is over.
5. Just being blessed and finding my way back to the Lord! It's definitely been my best decision of 2006.
6. To have finished all my work that was necessary before going on break.
7. To be alive and for all that I have achieved in my short 23 and a half years on this earth. Who would have ever thought I would be where I am today!
8. Myspace and Facebook! Gotta love both sites. Catching up and talking to people you haven't seen or talked to in years.

Until next time I am America's Nightmare...

GO BUCKS and I love my church!

What a win by the Buckeyes! That was definitely one of the best college football games that I have ever seen. The Buckeyes pulled it off and are on their way to the national championship game. January 8th is the big day, adn I will be rooting for them. I love football. That's the one thing that was missing from my undergraudate university. We didn't have a football team and had to accept a soccer game as our homecoming game. Yea, it's weird, but oh well. Being without football for those four years can make you forget how exciting the game is. HPU definitley should work on getting a team. Football brings this spirit to a campus that no other sport (besides basketball) can do. I am grateful to have went to The Ohio State University for graduate school. I was reaccquianted with football and without a doubt we have the best football team in the country. Fiesta Bowl here we come!!! I can't wait.

On another note, I love my church! yes, since I moved to Columbus I have been blessed with finding a new church home and family. Grace Apostolic church is the name of my church. I began attending there in May. I have been enjoying every moment of it. They have welcomed me with open arms and I hope to continue to grow spiritually with this church. At Grace, we have a great pastor. Luckily for myself, he is the teacher of our sunday school class for new saints. The class has been very interesting and I have been getting some answers to many of my questions that I have had about Jesus and the church. It amazes me how much knowledge my pastor has. I hope one day I will be that wise. One of the things we discussed in Sunday School today is that there is ONE TRUE GOD! Yes, no Allah, Buddah or anything else. There is only one God! Other religions may worship others, but they are wrong because there is only one God. If you have a Bible take it out and read Ephesians 4:4-5. For those who don't have one I will type it out for you now. "There is one body , and one spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling: One Lord, one faith, one baptism. " Yes it's right there in your bibles. I was amazed at this but it got me to thinking. So I stated to the pastor, "What will happen to those who believe in another faith and are sincere in their worshipping whomever it is, and don't have the opportunity to know Jesus Christ?" He looked at me and stated, "Our God is a righteous God." He went on to say that God recognizes that not everyone will be given the opportunity to read his last will and testament(The Bible) and that he will judge them accordingly. Man, that was very powerful to me. I had always wondered about those who never knew of Jesus Christ. It's good to know that our God is righteous and judges accordingly.

Another lady in my church is Sister Perry. She is our greeter. I remember meeting her on my first trip to Grace. Her bright smile and bubbling personaly welcomed me to Grace. Each week I come into church I am greeted by her beautiful smiling face. This week as I went to give her a hug she stated to me that she wanted to tell me something. I was a little surprised but I said ok. She stated that at the prayer breakfast she saw me and something just popped into her mind. She said that you are the type of person that doesn't get mad very often and if you do it has to be something serious. You then went on to say that you are a good friend to your friends and you would do anything for anyone of your friends. She stated that I valued friendship and looked out for all my friends. Also, she said that my friends come to me for advice because they respect my opinion. She ended by saying that she knows that I am a good person and those that know me feel the same way. (This was a summary but you get the just of what she was saying) I was blown away by this. I offer advice to a number of my friends and fraternity brothers. I have been told by a lot of people that they look up to me. It was amazing to me that God spoke to her and told her all this. It made me think about my friends that I have. One thing for sure is that I know I am a good friend. I take friendship very seriously and look out for those that I love and care about. Those that are my friends know that I look out for them and offer my advice on a number of situations. I am still shocked that Sister Perry got this message from God about me. It really touched me and made me smile even brighter today. I know this is a long post but I hope you all enjoyed. I will be updating one more time before Thanksgiving.

Until then I am America's Nightmare...

Anyone else ready for Thanksgiving?...

I am extremely exhausted. It's been a rough week! I put in a lot of hours at work and its draining me. I never expected to be working so much during this time of the year, but I guess this is the way the cookie crumbles. I am excited for Thanksgiving. I haven't been back to da Middie since June. It will be so much fun to catch up with family and friends. Let me add that the food will be amazing also. I have yet to cook for myself in my new apartment. After working all day I just never feel like coming home and whipping up dinner. Plus its easier just to order out. Hopefully one day I get into the swing of things. Less than two weeks I will be enjoying a very good home cooked thanksgiving meal. I wish Thanksgiving was more than just once a year!

This week I had kind of an altercation at work. It was troubling and I was ready to explode on Wednesday night. I would rather not get into the whole situation on here, but some of you do know. I have realized that even though I am not working at a fast food restaurant anymore (thank god!) the same B.S. exists at a corporate job that exists in a little fast food restaurant. You will have co workers that you get along with and some that you just don't see eye to eye with. It's life and its something that you just have to deal with.

Besides all the nonsense at work I have to say politically this has been a very good week! I won't say much more about it, but can I say that I am happy that America voted for change! I was a little skeptical but I was in deep happy with the results. (Especially in Ohio!)

Last weekend was one of the best weekends of my life. I went to NC to visit my LBz and some of my friends still at my undergrad institution. It was so much fun. I love hangin out with my bruhs. They definitely keep me entertained. Everytime I visit it just makes me miss them more! I wish I lived closer to some of my LBz. I definitely enjoy the times we hang out. It's amazing to me still how strong the bond is between my LBz and myself. I remember when we all started our journey to Kappa Land. I definitely didn't think we would end up so close. (yes, we pledged and I don't regret it!) I love those boys and would do anything I could to help them. I think our bond definitley grows stronger and stronger as time goes by. Last night I went to a step show and just thought man if only my bruhs was here. (There were members of my fraternity there, but I am sure everyone that is greek will agree that there is nobody like your home chapter) I definitley miss my LBz and hopefully one day I will live closer to them. Oh yeah my Front says that he may come to Ohio next semester! Yeah he shocked me when he said this. Hopefully he does so I can show him around CO and see how life is here.

Change is coming...

I went out and voted on Tuesday. I was so excited. I woke up extra early in anticipation that the lines would be long. Luckily, I didn't have to wait. I went into the polling place knowing that I was voting for a change. Yes that change is coming. America as a whole recognized that America was headed in the wrong direction and helped elect a Democrat-majority in the House of Representatives since 1994. To might delight yesterday word came that Democrats had won control of the Senate, also. It was news to my ears. I was wondering when America was going to wake up and see that we needed change. Looks like our President is even getting a hint since now Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfield has resigned. His resignation was a long time coming. Now we have to see if the Democrats will live up to America's expectations. I hope they don't get in there and act a fool, because if they do they will find themselves back in the minority come 2008.

Speaking of 2008, it looks like we won't even get a break from politics since everyone now is focused on the presidential election of 2008. I know who my dream team is. Barrack Obama and John Edwards. I think that combination would be great. I would be rooting hard for those two. I am just hoping that at least one of them are the presidential candidate. It's a long ways away though. I am going to sit back and just relax and enjoy the Democratic majority in the senate and house. I hope the democrats stick to there plan of raising minimum wage and cutting the interest rate on student loans. I think they will get it done. At least I have faith in them.

I have one theory on why Ken Blackwell lost the gubernatorial race in Ohio. Its because of his race! Yes, I typed it. The Republican majority that exists in Ohio doesn't want a Black guy as the head of their party. I don't care what anyone says, there is a lot of racism that exists in Ohio and I truly believe that is one of the main reasons Ken Blackwell lost. If you compare the percentage points that Blackwell lost by to other Republicans in statewide races you will see that no other one lost as badly. Just something for you all to think about.

I hear that in Michigan they banned affirmative action when it comes to getting into public universities. I was surprised to read this. I think one of the common misconceptions of affirmative action is that it only works for black people. That is not the case though. Affirmative action is for any minority. (Black, Asian, Hispanic and even women) we all know that there is a lot of hidden racism in this country. Whether you want to admit it or not I know that you know. Well that's all for now. VOTE...

I am encouraging everyone to go out and VOTE tomorrow! This is a very important election. Whether you are voting Republican or Democrat you shouldn't take it for granted. If you have trouble at the polls voting contact your county board of elections. It's not to late to still read up and find out information on the candidates in your state. I will be giving my thoughts on the election on Wednesday or Thursday. It just depends on my mood.
